ST. PAUL, Minn. - Two Minnesota Morris volleyball players, one women's soccer player, and two cross country runners earn Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week awards for their respective sports.
Marissa Ekness earns her first UMAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week honor this season. She smashed 49 kills over three matches last week (4.08 k/s) and hit .248 on the week. She also recorded three double-doubles averaging 3.17 d/s.
Katie Reitsma receives the UMAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week award for the second time this season. She had a monster week culminating with her becoming the all-time digs leader in program history. She collected 89 digs (7.42 d/s) in three matches, which included a 49-dig effort against UW-Stout.
Molly Hancuh receives UMAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week recognition for the third time this season. She was involved in all six of the Cougars goals in two key conference wins last week. She scored twice and assisted on a goal in the team's win at Martin Luther, then reversed those stats in Saturday's home win over Northland.
David Roanhorse earns UMAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the first time in his career. He was the Cougars top finisher at the Mount Marty Invite Saturday. His time of 27:33.1 over the eight-kilometer course was good for 21st overall out of 104 runners.
For the second time this season,
Katherine Novak receives UMAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week. She was the top Cougar runner Saturday at the Mount Marty Invite as her time of 20:39.79 was good for 22nd overall out of 94 runners on the five-kilometer course.
