Herrmann, Christ, Hancuh earn UMAC Player of the Week nods

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Minnesota Morris volleyball player Layne Herrmann, men's soccer goalkeeper Cody Christ, and women's soccer player Molly Hancuh earn Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Player of the Week honors in their respective sports.

These are all repeat honors for the trio. This marks the fifth time in six weeks for Herrmann claiming UMAC Setter of the Week. Christ earned UMAC Defensive Player of the Week on September 11, the same date that Hancuh was named UMAC Offensive Player of the Week.

Herrmann tallied 123 assists over four matches last week. Her season total stands at 891, third best in the nation. Forty-six of her assists came in the Cougars road win at Concordia-Moorhead and she averaged 11.1 assists/set for the week.

Christ led the Cougar men's soccer team to their fourth straight UMAC shutout win Saturday when the team blanked Bethany Lutheran. He recorded 12 saves in two games and allowed just one goal.

Hancuh was involved in eight of the Cougars 14 goals in two games last week in women's soccer. She scored four times in the team's win over Crown and once more in the victory over Bethany Lutheran. She also assisted on three goals adding to her UMAC-leading total of 38 points.
