Heartland Orthopedic Specialists is proud to sponsor the University of Minnesota Morris Cougar Athletes of the Week. The Cougar male and female athletes for the week of October 30-November 5 are volleyball player Marissa Ekness and football player Drew Shipley. 

Ekness closed out her collegiate volleyball career last week in her usual dominant fashion. She had a great all-around effort in the team's UMAC semifinal win over UW-Superior with 14 kills, eight digs, and four service aces. She added 18 more digs in the championship match at Northwestern. She finishes her career as the all-time kills leader (1,717), sixth all-time in digs (1,280), and seventh all-time in service aces (144).

 
Shipley was all over the field in the football team's regular season finale Saturday at Greenville. He tied a career high with 17 tackles and also recorded a sack, forced a fumble, and returned an interceptions 29 yards for a score. He was the only defensive player in the UMAC to record over 100 tackles this season (114).
