DULUTH, Minn. - The Minnesota Morris men's track and field team sits in second place after the first day of competition at the UMAC Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Burns Wellness Center on the campus of the College of St. Scholastica.
Highlighting the Cougars' day on the track was the distance medley relay team that set a new school record in its first place performance. The team of
Tyler Sassenberg,
Mike Okeson,
Ryan Anderson, and
Chalmer Combellick ran a time of 10:47.49.
Day 1 results
Wisconsin-Superior is in the team lead with a total of 116.5 points. Minnesota Morris sits at 40 points, two ahead of St. Scholastica. Bethany Lutheran, Crown, and Northwestern rounds out the field.
Having a second place showing was the Cougars 4x200 relay team who clocked a time of 1:35.26.
Matthew Kingland had a fourth place height in the high jump with a leap of 1.75m (5-08.75). Teammate Rob Reller had the same height in the event and took fifth place. Also with fifth place performances were Mack Ferguson in the weight throw (13.70m, 44-11.50),
Shamund Gordon in the long jump (6.02m, 19-09.00), and
David Roanhorse in the 5000 meters (16:27.41)
Competition in Duluth concludes Saturday.
