Katie Reitsma were named Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Player of the Week in their respective categories for their play in the opening week of the 2017-18 athletic season.

Shipley ended last season as the last recipient of the UMAC Special Teams Player of the Week and he begins the new season with the same honor. In the home contest against Martin Luther, the sophomore from Idaho had four of his seven punts land inside the opponent's 20-yard line. His longest boot was 50 yards and he averaged 41.6 yards per punt.
Herrmann had a great opening weekend and earns the UMAC Setter of the Week award. The reigning UMAC Rookie of the Year, Herrmann tallied 146 assists (9.73 assists/set) as the Cougars won three of four matches at the Sugar Loaf Classic in Winona. Herrmann was a three-time Setter of the Week winner a season ago.
Like Herrmann, Reitsma was a three-time UMAC Player of the Week winner in her category and she starts the season with the conference's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week award. The reigning UMAC Defensive Player of the Year had 83 digs over four contests (5.83 digs/set) which included a high of 32 against Luther.
