Head Coach Paul Grove Talks about the weekend

The Cougar Men's basketball team takes aim at their first UMAC road games of the season this weekend (Jan. 21 & 22), traveling to Bethany Lutheran tonight at 7:30 p.m. and Martin Luther tomorrow at 5:00 p.m.

The Friday night match-up with the Vikings is a look at two of the top teams in the early conference season. Having won their last two, the Cougars enter the game at 2-1 in league play, while the Vikings are the lone unbeaten left, sporting a perfect 3-0 league record.

It will also be a “what will give in first match-up” as the Cougars own the league's top scoring offense at 83.0 points per game, while Bethany has the leagues best scoring defense at just 52.7 points per game.

The Cougars have won five straight, and seven of the last 10, against Bethany Lutheran, including a 68-54 UMAC Playoff win on Feb. 25 last season. The Vikings last win came on Feb. 21 in 2008.

Martin Luther got the best of the Cougars in their last meeting, taking a 76-70 win on Feb. 12 last season. The teams split last season, with the Cougars winning 104-90 on Dec. 5, and they have split the last 10 meetings, in an even series over the last five years.

Cougar men's basketball returns to action this weekend, and Friday night against the Vikings can be followed here.
