The UMN Morris Athletic Department Statement of Philosophy

The Athletic Department of UMN Morris seeks to establish and maintain an atmosphere which supports the educational mission of the University by ensuring that each student-athlete's athletic activities are part of the overall educational experience. To achieve this end, the Athletic Department:

1)  Supports student-athletes in their efforts to reach high levels of performance as they compete for conference and regional championships.
2)  Encourages the development of sportsmanship and positive societal attitudes.
3)  Provides for equal opportunities for men and women.
4)  Ensures that coaches and administrators exhibit fairness, openness and honesty in their relationships with student-athletes.
5)  Places the highest priority on the successful completion of each student- athlete's academic program.
