Box Score

Moorhead, Minn. – A poor shooting night doomed the Cougars this evening (Nov. 17), as they fell on the road to Concordia-Moorhead, 66-44 in nonconference action.

Morris (1-1) shot just 26% (6-of-23) from the field in the first half, and saw an early lead erased as Concordia (1-0) sprinted out to a 32-16 first half lead.

The Cougars struck first and led by as much as five at 7-2 after a Jeremy Burns (Fall Creek, Wis.) three-pointer five minutes in. From there, though, the Cobbers went on a 10-to-1 run to take over the lead, and never let it go. Concordia went up by as much as 17 in the first half before taking a 16-point lead into the locker room.

In the second, the Cobbers quickly ran their lead to 20, going up 39-18 after a steal-and-score at the 16:12 mark. The Cougars got as close at 15 after a three-point play from Brendon Foss (Hancock, Minn.) made the score 55-40, but it was too little too late as there was just 4:39 left to play.

Foss finished as one of three Cougars with eight points to lead the team, joined by Zach Meyer (Cottonwood, Minn.) and Derek Schmidt (East Grand Forks, Minn.). Kyle Bruns was next in line with six, while no other player had more than three. The Cougars finished shooting just 33% from the field, while the Cobbers countered with a 55% mark.

Concordia avenges their loss to the Cougars early last season, when the Cougars came away from Moorhead with a 65-63 win.

Morris will now take the weekend off before returning home on Nov. 22 to host NAIA Jamestown on a 7:30 p.m. match-up on Jim Gremmels Court.
