This weekend the Minnesota, Morris basketball teams host their final set of regular season home games, welcoming Martin Luther to Jim Gremmels Court on Feb. 4, and Bethany Lutheran on Feb. 5. Action starts at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, and at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Cougar women's head coach Tim Grove recently sat down with UMMCougars.org to talk about the season up to this point, and the weekend ahead.

Earlier this season the women swept through these two teams, topping Bethany Lutheran 75-48 after a 24-to-9 run opened things up to start the second half. They then bettered Martin Luther 81-59, using another second half surge that included a 68% shooting mark in the period to run away.

Last season the women won twice over each team, 76-65 and 83-70 over Bethany Lutheran, and 76-6360-58 over Martin Luther.

In their first meeting the men handed Bethany Lutheran their first conference loss with a 92-80 setback, but then tripped up against Martin Luther, 83-76, when their second half comeback fell short.

Last season the men went 4-1 in five games with these opponents, including a 68-54 playoff win over Bethany Lutheran. They also topped the Vikings 88-56 and 99-80. Against Martin Luther they first won 104-90 at home, but fell on the road 76-70.

It will be senior day on Feb. 5, with the women honoring Diane Blommel (Grey Eagle, Minn.), Brandi Cresap (Perham, Minn.), Steph Roggenbuck (Osakis, Minn.) and Tara Thielke (Hancock, Minn.). The men will say their thanks to Eric Dalbey (Mora, Minn.) and Daniel Fragodt (Benson, Minn.). Dalbey,

Rogganbuck and Thielke are all 1,000 point scorers in their careers, with Dalbey passing the mark last season, and Roggenbuck and Thielke reaching the standard this year. Roggenbuck has reached the milestone for both her career and at UMM.

Cresap continues to lead the country in assist turnover ratio. In conference play the Cougars can be found near the top in nearly every category, and boast four of the top five ranked individuals in shooting percentage.
