Box Score ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Minnesota Morris Cougars (2-3) rebounded from a tough loss on Tuesday night with a big 85-56 win over Presentation (2-3) on Wednesday night thanks to 20 points from
Emily Mehr and 18 from
Kendra Wycoff. Off the bench both
Emily Auch and
Cori Becker added ten points in the win.
The Cougars outshot the Saints 42.9% to 31.7% making 13 more shots from the field than the Saints. Morris also out rebounded the Saints 49-38 including 12-5 in offensive boards. Thanks to Auch and Becker UMM outscored Presentation 27-0 including 20-0 in the second half.
The Saints led early, going up 8-4 and did not allow the Cougars to take the lead until the Cougars went up by one with 13:50 left in the first half. Presentation College was able to tie the game up twice but the Cougars broke away with a 9-2 run taking a 31-24 lead with 6:14 left in the half. Becker hit a three pointer with 23 seconds left in the half giving the Cougars their largest lead of the half at 42-30 going into the break.
Wycoff hit a pair of three pointers to start the second half putting UMM up 48-30 with 17:48 left. PC never got closer than 13 as the Cougars pulled away late. The lead would get as large as 28 as Auch hit a jumper with five minutes left in half. The game would end with the Cougars winning by 28 thanks to a three pointer by
Leah Peterson.
The Cougars are off until next Tuesday when they welcome Valley City State to the P.E. Center at 5:30 p.m.
