Lady T's Pull Away in Second Half

Box Score MORRIS, Minn. – The Minnesota Morris Cougars ran into a hot shooting Dakota State Lady T's team in the second half as the Cougars fell 66-49. Dakota State shot 48.6% from the field in the second half to pull away from UMM, outscoring them 39-27 in the second half.
 
The Cougars struggled scoring on the night, shooting 17-61 from the field and just 3-17 from behind the arc. Kendra Wycoff led the offense with 11 points; Abby Fragodt had 12 rebounds along with six points, five assists, four steals and two blocks. Kelsey Erickson had five assists and five rebounds along with four rebounds.
 
Dakota State was led by Alyson Drooger, who had 20 points and 12 rebounds. Kylie Westover had 17 points and Courtney Hamblin added 13.
 
In the first half the Cougars took a 16-8 lead with 7:52 left in the half, thanks to a 13-4 run capped off by two free throws from Kramer. Kramer had six points during the run and Wycoff added five. Emily Auch had five points during the opening ten minutes for the Cougars. The Lady T's would come back and outscored the Cougars 17-5 over the last seven minutes of the half to take a 27-22 lead into the half time break.
 
DSU came alive in the second half and extended their lead to 14 at 43-29 with just under eight minutes left in the second half. Wycoff hit a pair of free throws to cut the lead to seven 43-36 with 6:30 left but the Lady T's responded with a  17-7 run to take a 60-43 lead with two minutes left in the game sealing the win.
 
Morris was outscored 38-16 in the paint and 34-14 on the fast break as Dakota State was able to leave town with the victory. Minnesota Morris will be off until January 4 as they take on Valley City State.
