Box Score MORRIS, Minn. - The Mayville State Comets (8-1) caused 27 Cougar (2-5) turnovers as they pressured Minnesota Morris ball handlers all night. The Cougars finished in double figures scoring with
Emily Auch leading the way with 16 points and 11 rebounds; it was her first double-double of her career.
Cori Becker had a career high 13 points and
Abby Fragodt had 11.
The Comets jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the first four minutes of action and did not look back. The pressure from the Comets defense turned into points on the other end. In the first half the Comets outscored UMM 18-6 in points off turnovers as they jumped out to a 45-25 lead. Minnesota Morris was held to 29.2% shooting and the Comets hit 45.2% of their shots. Becker had 11 of her 13 points in the first half.
In the second half the Cougars figured out how to break the pressure as they shot 48.0% in the second half. Auch score ten of her points in the second half and Fragodt added nine. The Cougars finished the half 12-25 from the field in the second half and outscored the Comets 14-4 in points off turnovers. Mayville was able to damage in the paint scoring 42 of their 80 points in the paint.
Minnesota Morris will be back in action next Friday as they host Dakota State at 5:30 in their final game before the semester break.
