After securing its third straight UMAC Championship in the regular season finale, the Minnesota Morris women's basketball team is ready to begin the postseason, and defend their 2011 UMAC Tournament Championship. The Cougars shared the conference championship with Martin Luther – as each team finished 12-2 – and enter the Tournament as the No. 2 seed after MLC earned the top-seed by winning a coin-flip tie breaker.

Game Time: The Cougars host St. Scholastica at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22.

It will be the third meeting this year between the two teams, with each winning on their home floor during the regular season. Most recently, the Cougars won 77-54 on Jim Gremmels Court just last Friday, after suffering their second conference loss in Duluth on Jan. 28, 66-62 in overtime.

Story Line: The defending UMAC Tournament Champions are looking to win their third straight tournament game on their way to another postseason championship.

Three-Time Champs: With their 74-64 win over Northland on Feb. 18, the Cougars won their third straight UMAC Championship. They share the title with Martin Luther, who also finished with a 12-2 record. After locking up the championship with a week left to play last season, they Cougars need to close on an eight-game winning streak to earn the trophy this season.

Championship Years vs. the UMAC: As the Cougars have won the last three championships, they have done so by dominating their UMAC opponents along the way. The Cougars have went 39-3 in league play the last three seasons, posting records of 13-1, 14-0 and 12-2, while outscoring their opponents by an average of 17 points per game.

St. Scholastica Notes: Placed third in the UMAC with a 10-4 conference record ... making first UMAC Tournament appearance since 2010 season, where they went 7-7 and finished third ... had won eight of previous nine before falling to the Cougars on Feb. 17 ...  ended the season by going to overtime with Presentation, eventually winning 64-62 ... opened season 0-6 playing exclusive schedule of MIAC and WIAC opponents ... led in scoring by Mariah Hovick at 12.3 ppg, their only player in double figures ... Hovick has scored in double figures 18 times, including a season long stretch of six to close the regular season .... Hovick was CSS's only UMAC Player of the Week, back on Dec. 13 ... went 3-4 in conference play and 4-10 for the season away from home.
