Tough Road Trip on Tap for Cougars

MORRIS, Minn. – After picking up a 98-37 win over Crown on Tuesday, the Cougars (3-7, 1-0 UMAC) head on the road to take on St. Scholastica (3-9, 0-1 UMAC) and Northland (2-6, 1-0 UMAC) this weekend. Friday's game at St. Scholastica has been chosen as the UMAC Game of the Week by the conference officials.

Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. on Friday night and is a battle between the two teams selected to finish one, two in the UMAC this season.
 
Last season the Cougars and Saints met three times with Morris picking up two wins, including one in the UMAC semi-finals. In the only meeting in Duluth last season, the Saints picked up the 66-62 win in overtime. The Cougars hold a 16-3 series record over the Saints despite the last seven meetings in Duluth being decided by eight points or less.
 
Against the Saints Emily Mehr averaged 23.3 points and shooting the ball at 52.1% clip from the field in the three games last season. Abby Fragodt averaged 11.0 rebounds and 4.3 points per game and Kendra Wycoff added 9.0 points per game in those three games vs. CSS.
 
Northland and Minnesota Morris will meet on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. The Cougars beat Northland twice last season in games that were decided by ten points or less.
 
Mehr averaged 20.5 points per game against the Jills going 11-25 from the field in the two games. She was also 16-19 from the foul line. Wycoff added 9.5 per game and Fragodt added 7.0 and 8.0 rebounds per game. Defensively the Cougars held the Jills to 33.6% shooting on the night.
