Box Score MORRIS, Minn. – The Cougars (3-7, 1-0 UMAC) ended their four game losing streak in a big way on Tuesday night, beating Crown (2-8, 0-1 UMAC) 98-37 in the UMAC opener for both teams. Five Cougars finished in double figures, led by
Emily Auch's career high 23 points on 9-10 shooting. As a team the Cougars were 48-82 from the field in the game.
Kendra Wycoff added 16 points with three made three pointers.
Maja Coomes had a game high 13 points off the bench setting her career high.
Carmen Bergstedt also had a career high with 10 points. In addition
Kelsey Erickson added ten points on 4-5 shooting.
Abby Fragodt had a career high 17 rebounds, ten defensive and seven offensive. Fragodt added eight points, five assists, a block and a steal.
The first four minutes of action were tight as both teams came out on fire. Morris lead 12-10 thanks to eight points from Wycoff. Crown had eight points from Judy Mundt as well during the early going. The Cougars went on a 15-3 run over the next six minutes to take a 27-13 lead with just under ten minutes left in the first half.
Maja Coomes hit a three pointer with just over two minutes left in the half to take a 45-21 lead into the halftime break.
The lead grew to 30 over the first four minutes of the second half as Erickson converted a three point play giving the Cougars a 52-23 lead. The lead would continue to grow throughout the second half as the Cougars picked up the 98-37 win.
This weekend Minnesota Morris will travel to take on St. Scholastica, Friday at 5:30 p.m. On Saturday the Cougars will take on Northland at 3:00 p.m. in Ashland, Wis.
