Emily Mehr's 25 points and eight rebounds as the Cougars (13-7, 10-0 UMAC) pulled away from Presentation College (9-10) in the second half to win their 12th straight game. The Cougars shot 45.2% from the field in the 78-50 win.
Abby Fragodt had nine rebounds, eight points and five blocks as she continues to find multiple ways to contribute during the Cougars winning streak.
Emily Auch had ten points off the bench and the UMM bench outscored the Saints' bench 26-6 on the night.
Minnesota Morris jumped out to an early 9-2 lead as the Cougars started the game 4-4 from the field. UMM hit seven of their first eight shots as their lead grew to 11 as Wycoff hit a three pointer to make it 16-5.
Emily Auch hit a pair of free throws giving Morris a 15 points lead at 24-9. The Saints cut the lead to eight but the Cougars went into the break with an 11 point lead, 37-26.
After a hot start in the first half, the Cougars were the opposite of that as the second half started. In the opening three and half minutes of the second half Minnesota Morris missed their first five shots and turned the ball over twice. The Saints were unable to take advantage as Minnesota Morris maintained a ten point lead. Eventually the Cougars were able to pull away and increased their lead to 31 at 72-41, thanks to a 28-9 run from the twelve minute mark to just over five minutes left in the game. Mehr had eight of her 25 points during the run. Morris would go on to win the game 78-50.
The Cougars will host Northland and St. Scholastica this weekend at the P.E. Center. Northland comes to town on Friday night at 5:30 p.m. and St. Scholastica will be in town Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. Minnesota Morris can clinch at least a share of the UMAC Conference Title this weekend with wins over both the LumberJills and the Saints.
