Cougars Face Road Test

MORRIS, Minn. – With four games left in the regular season and already a place in the UMAC Tournament guaranteed Minnesota Morris (12-9, 9-1 UMAC) will look to position themselves over the next two weekends. The play on the road against Northland (3-17, 1-9 UMAC) tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. before taking on St. Scholastica (13-8, 8-2 UMAC) in the UMAC Game of the Week on Saturday at 3 p.m.

This will be the first road weekend since January 24 for Morris.
 
Earlier this season the Cougars took care of Northland by the score of 62-45. They held the LumberJills to just 31.4% shooting from the field. If the Cougars can get by Northland on Friday it will give the team a seven game winning streak before meeting up with St. Scholastica in the UMAC Game of the Week.
 
It will be the third time this season Minnesota Morris will be included in the UMAC Game of the Week, they are currently 2-0 in such games. Earlier this season Morris beat St. Scholastica 71-67 in the P.E. Center. Emily Auch had 18 points and 11 rebounds in the win and Kendra Wycoff added 13. The Cougars had eight more made free throws in the four point win which proved to be the difference.
 
Minnesota Morris is ranked 45th in the nation, out rebounding opponents by 7.7 per game. Emily Auch had a double-double in four of the previous five games. Abby Fragodt ranks 22nd in the nation with 2.57 blocks per game.
 
Cougar fans should also pay attention to Kendra Wycoff, who is just 30 points shy of 1,000 career points. In addition, Martin Luther is at Northwestern on Saturday in another key matchup on the women's side as the battle for tournament seeds heats up.
