Cougars Run Past Storm

MORRIS, MINN. –
This was the second meeting of the year between the University of Minnesota, Morris (10-9, 7-1 UMAC) and Crown College (1-16, 0-8 UMAC). In the first game, the Cougars defeated the Storm by nearly 60 points as they went on to win 102-44. This match up was no different as the Cougars beat the Storm 98-45.

The game was close for the first nine minutes until the Cougars began to pull away. The team went on a 30-8 run to end the half. The score to end the first half was 48-22. The Cougars shot a 42.9% field goal percentage as they went 18-42 from the field. To top it off, the team's defense was all over the other team as they held the Storm to only 30.8%.

Leading the way at the half for the Cougars was Abby Fragodt. She had 12 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 blocks. She was over half-way to achieving a triple-double without even attempting a jump shot. Tori Holt led with the team with the most points with 13. She was 4-7 from the field and shot 5-8 from the free throw line. Emily Auch also contributed 11 points.

As the second half began, the Cougars continued where they left. With 13:20 left in the game, the women wrapped up a 17-3 run and led 65-25.
With nine minutes left in the game, the starters were taken out and the reserves got a piece of the action. Every player that went into the game at that point scored at least once. The team finished off the rest of the game on a 33-20 run.

The Cougars were led by Tori Holt and Emily Auch as they both scored 15 points on the night. Abby Fragodt had 15 total rebounds with 6 of them on the offensive end. Fragodt also led the team with 6 assists and 6 blocks. The team finished the game shooting 48.7% from the field and 72% from the free throw line. They held the Storm to a 23.1% field goal percentage in the second half and 26.9% for the game.

The final score of the game was 98-45 as the Cougars moved onto 10-9 overall and 7-1 in the UMAC. The Cougars are now 6-3 on the season for games played at home.
