MORRIS, Minn. – Tomorrow evening the Cougars will battle Presentation in the first of two games over the next seven days. The two teams play in Aberdeen tomorrow night before the same teams battle in Morris next Monday night. Both the men and women are 1-1 heading into tomorrow's games.
The women are coming off a ten point win over Trinity Bible last week. Five Cougars scored in double figures including three freshmen.
Kendra Raths and
Mauren Thiesen each had 13 points against the Lions.
Kayla Kraemer,
Tori Holt and
Elli Stevenson each added ten points. Holt had her first double-double of the year with ten points and ten rebounds.
Defensively Morris was able to hold the Lions to just 27.1% in the first half while building up a 36-24 lead. The bench accounted for 23 points in the win for UMM.
Presentation is 2-2 on the year, picking up a win over Oglala Lakota College on November 12. Since then the Saints have dropped four road exhibition games, including a pair of games against NCAA Division II opponents.
The Morris men beat Trinity by 18 after pulling away late in the game.
CD Douglas led the way with 15 points and was one of five scorers in double figures.
Dylan Erickson and
Joe Roggenbuck added 14. Roggenbuck added ten rebounds to complete his first double-double of the season.
The Cougars hit 7-10 from behind the arc in the first half against Trinity. The team finished with nine made three pointers and shot 48.6% from the floor. Morris' bench outscored the Trinity bench 40-0 in the game.
Tomorrow's opponent comes into the game with a 4-1 record; they also have a pair of exhibition wins on the season. Last season Morris and Presentation split their home and home series, with the road team winning both games.
