Men Looking to Lock Up UMAC Tourney Spot

MORRIS, Minn. – Minnesota Morris (10-11, 8-2  UMAC) is looking to lock up a UMAC Tournament bid this weekend as they host Martin Luther (4-17, 3-7 UMAC) and Bethany Lutheran (3-18, 3-7 UMAC). The Cougars need one victory to clinch a spot in the postseason.

The Knights and Vikings may not be having great records but they are far from out of the postseason race. They both sit just one game behind North Central and Northland for the fourth spots in the league.

Martin Luther is seventh in the league in scoring, averaging 61.2 points per game. They do a good job forcing turnovers, averaging 8.4 steals per game. UMM will have to keep an eye on Todd Brassow and Luke Rothe, who combine to score 31 points per game.

Bethany has had some offensive struggles this season, ranking last in the league in points per game (59.6) and seventh in field goal percentage (38.6%). They do clean up the offensive glass however, averaging 12.3 offensive rebounds per game.

The Vikings have a balanced attack with eight players averaging at least five points per game. Nick Sanborn leads the team with 10.4 points per contest.

Morris will honor seniors RJ Dean, Neil Helgeson and former player turned student-coach Brodie Raymond prior to the game on Saturday evening.
