MORRIS, Minn. – The Cougars (11-12, 9-3 UMAC) have wrapped up the seconds seed in the UMAC Tournament, which begins next Wednesday but UMM will be looking for a pair of road wins to give them some momentum as they enter the post-season. Morris will take on UMAC Regular Season Champions Northwestern (14-9, 12-0 UMAC) on Friday before closing out the regular season against North Central (10-12, 6-6 UMAC) on Saturday.
Northwestern beat the Cougars 74-54 in the meeting in Morris on Jan. 31. Having wrapped up the number one seed in the UMAC Tournament they will be looking to put the finishing touches on a perfect conference record this weekend.
North Central has a lot to play for, being tied the third seed with St. Scholastica at 6-6 in the conference. Morris used a second half spurt to defeat the Rams 78-61 in their meeting in Morris on Jan. 30. Five Cougars scored in double figures during the contest.
Morris had their four game winning streak snapped last Saturday. On year the Cougars are 5-0 on the road during UMAC play. This will be the toughest road trip for Morris, a great test before the postseason.
