MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Morris (11-14, 9-5 UMAC) fell 87-80 in the regular season finale to North Central (13-12, 8-6 UMAC), the same two teams will meet on Wednesday night in Morris in the UMAC semi-finals at 7:30 p.m.
Joe Roggenbuck led the way offensively with 17 points, he also added eight rebounds.
Minnesota Morris was able to control the paint, outscoring North Central 40-22 inside. The Rams were on fire from three hitting 12-20 shots. Overall, NCU shot 50% in the game.
The game was tight through the first ten minutes with North Central leading by just three at 16-13. However, the Rams would go on a 20-6 run and take a 17 point lead with 3:42 left on the clock. Morris was only able to cut the lead down to 12 by halftime.
The Rams would maintain their double digit lead over UMM until a pair of free throws from
Isaac Sawyer cut the lead to nine with just over 12 minutes to play. Morris got as close as four on three occasions before
Tyler Ukkelburg hit a jumper to make the score 65-63. North Central would hit a three on their next possession to go back up but two possessions. The Cougars cut the lead to three on their next offensive possession but got no closer and the Rams pulled away, going up 11 with 3:24 left.
Morris never got any closer than six before the Rams put the game away, winning 87-80.
