MORRIS, Minn. – The men's basketball team starts their second trip through the UMAC tonight as they travel to take on Crown (2-16, 2-5 UMAC) at 7:30 p.m. We sat down with
Paul Grove to preview what the Cougars (7-11, 5-2 UMAC) will be looking to accomplish in second half of the year.
Currently Minnesota Morris sits in second place with a 5-2 record in conference play. The men's standings in the conference are bunched up with teams 2-7 all within three games of each other. The Cougars have a tough schedule ahead of them as they play five of the next seven games on the road, starting tonight.
Last time out against Crown the Cougars were able to shoot 45.9% from the field while holding the Storm to just 33.3%. Both teams struggled from three, hitting just 10 of 49 attempts combined. Morris was able to get to the foul line outscoring Crown 21-10 from the line.
Five different scorers finished in double figures as UMM won 84-56. A big first half was an immense part of the victory as Morris led 45-25 at the break.
James Brown is the Storm's biggest offensive threat; he is averaging 16.4 points per game and is coming off a 35 point game against North Central on Saturday.
