MORRIS, Minn. – Minnesota Morris is back in the P.E. Center this weekend as they host Finlandia and Northland. Finlandia comes to town Friday in the first of two non-conference games with the Lions this season. The next day the Cougars go back to their UMAC schedule when they battle Northland.
MEN: The Morris men's team is coming off a big win over St. Scholastica this past Sunday, the win knocked off the Saints from the list of unbeatens in the conference. The win also snapped a five game losing streak for the Cougars. The team had a season high 22 assists in the win on Sunday afternoon.
- Minnesota Morris is shooting better than their opponents this season 48.7%-44.3%.
- Shooting over 48% seems to be the key to victory for UMM, they are 4-1 when reaching that percentage.
- CD Douglas is second in the UMAC, averaging 20.2 points per game. Douglas also leads the team in rebounding.
- Finlandia also snapped a long losing streak, beating Martin Luther 80-74, to pick up their second win of the season.
- Five Lions are averaging at least 11 points per game this season.
- The Lions average 22.8 three point attempts per game.
- Northland picked up their first win of the year last Sunday, beating Bethany Lutheran by 21.
- The Jacks also like to shoot the three, averaging 24.1 attempts per game.
- Northland has shot over 40% in just four games this season.
WOMEN: The Cougars have struggled as of late dropping five straight, including three straight UMAC games for the first time in 11 years. During the streak UMM has been unable to score 70 points in all five games.
- Elli Stevenson leads the Cougars with 13.2 points per game.
- Last weekend Morris did a lot of damage at the line, hitting over 70% of their attempts.
- UMM is looking for their 12th straight win over Northland. The last loss was in 2010.
- Finlandia is still looking for their first win this season; they have been outscored by an average of 23 points per game.
- The Lions average just 33.6% from the field this season.
- Mikayla Hakala is averaging 13.3 points over the last three games.
- Finlandia averages 27.2 three point attempts per game.
- Northland is coming off a win over Mount Mary and is winners of three of the last four.
