MORRIS, Minn. – The Minnesota Morris Cougars men's basketball team is back at home this weekend as the regular season comes to a close. The Cougars have a lot at stake this weekend despite having wrapped up a UMAC Tournament berth.
Minnesota Morris can secure the three seed this weekend or fall as far as the fifth seed. The UMAC Tournament kicks off Monday with the four vs. five matchup.
Current Standings^ - Secured UMAC BerthTie-Breakers involving UMM:
North Central holds tie-breaker if finish with same UMAC record.
UM-Morris would win two-team tiebreaker with UW-Superior if both teams tied at 8-8 because of 2-4 record against teams above them in standings vs. UW-Superior would be 1-5 against teams above them in standings.
If UM-Morris is in two-team tiebreaker with UW-Superior at 9-7, UM-Morris would lose tiebreaker to UW-Superior as UW-Superior would be 1-1 against Northwestern in this scenario while UM-Morris was 0-2 against Northwestern.
If three-team tiebreaker with UW-Superior and Bethany Lutheran at 8-8, UM-Morris would win the tiebreaker with 2-4 record against three teams above them in standings while UW-Superior and Bethany Lutheran would both be 1-5 against teams above them in standings.
UM-Morris would win two-team tiebreaker over Bethany Lutheran if both teams 8-8 as UM-Morris would have better record against teams above them in standings.
We talked with assistant coach
Nick Perrin about this weekend and the opponents, Martin Luther and Bethany Lutheran. Friday night is jersey night and Saturday is senior night for the men. The Cougars will honor the seniors prior to their game.
