MORRIS, Minn. – The Minnesota Morris (12-13) men's basketball team will try and advance to the UMAC semi-finals tomorrow night as they take on Wisconsin-Superior (12-13) in the UMAC Tournament quarterfinal. Morris (the four seed) will host the Yellowjackets (the five seed) at 5:30 p.m. The two teams split their regular season series, with the road team winning each time.
Both the Cougars and Yellowjackets have struggled the last two weeks, having dropped three of their last four games to end the season, including the regular season finale. In the last meeting Morris'
Tyler Ukkelberg hit a late shot to beat Superior, 78-75. Earlier this season the Yellowjackets came to Morris and left with an 84-75 victory.
It will be the first meeting between the two teams in postseason play. Prior to the season the Cougars were voted to finish fourth while Wisconsin-Superior was voted third.
CD Douglas, Ukkelberg and
Joe Roggenbuck are all averaging over ten points per game this season. The Cougars have had success this season when they are sharing the ball, compiling a 6-0 record when finishing with at least 16 assists.
Wisconsin-Superior is led by Zach Schradle, who averaged 23.1 points and 8.8 rebounds in UMAC play. Brian Lindblom gives them a nice second scoring option. He averaged 17.8 points per game during the conference year.
