DULUTH, Minn. – Minnesota Morris (12-28) had their season come an end with a 17-1 loss to St. Scholastica (25-14) on Saturday afternoon. The Saints scored five runs in each of the first two innings to put Morris behind the eight ball early.
Scholastica took 2-0 lead in the first without recording a hit. A two run homer would cap off the five run first inning. Five more runs crossed the plate in the second, all unearned and again capped off with a two run homerun. Rendi Johnson had both homeruns for Scholastica.
The Saints kept pushing in the third scoring four more runs. For the third straight inning the rally ended with a homerun, this time of the three run variety.
Paige Larson ended the shutout bid, driving in
Magen Knickerbocker with a single up the middle in the top of the fourth. Another three run homer for the Saints in the fourth extended the lead even further.
Morris would finish with five hits on the afternoon.
