ELLENDALE, N.D. - Five Cougars scored in double figures as the Minnesota Morris women's basketball team amassed a season-high point total in a 93-47 win Tuesday night over Trinity Bible College in non-conference action.
The Cougars took control of the game six minutes into the first quarter. UMM ended the stanza on a 13-2 run to turn a 2-point lead into a 13-point, 25-12 lead after one quarter.
Minnesota Morris scored at least 20 and held the Lions below 20 in each quarter. The largest margin was a 25-7 third quarter.
The Cougars shot over 50 percent from the floor for the first time this season at 54 percent (38-for-70).
Mauren Thiesen led the Cougars with 18 points while going 4-for-6 from 3-point range.
Abby Van Kempen made eight of 11 shots in scoring 16 points.
Elli Stevenson scored 16,
Emma Atkinson added 11, and
Bailey Miller scored 10.
Minnesota Morris (6-12) returns to conference play Saturday when they travel to Duluth to play St. Scholastica.
