MORRIS, Minn. - After leaving Crown College Wednesday with a 1-0 UMAC record, the University of Minnesota Morris Women's basketball team was hoping to form a winning streak at home facing the University of Wisconsin-Superior on Saturday.
Their efforts were certainly present, but unfortunately were not enough as the Cougars fell to UW-Superior 59-52.
Early on, the Cougars kept the game close. Despite falling into a 10-5 deficit, the Cougars mounted a quick 7-2 run with 
Lexus Eagle Chasing mounting the charge with five points. That would not be the last burst of scoring output from the first year guard. With 1:23 left in the first quarter, Eagle Chasing tied the game 12-12 with a three pointer. The Cougars ended the first quarter with a slight lead 14-12 after a layup from 
Kendra Raths.
Though UW-Superior tied the game again 14-14 with 9:24 left in the second quarter, Minnesota Morris gained the lead back with a pair to free throws from Eagle Chasing to head  to the locker room for the half with a 25-24 lead. It was another consistent performance from Eagle Chasing, scoring 10 points, recording a pair of assist and one steal. 
UW-Superior returned from the half in full swing, building their lead throughout the third quarter. In fact, the Yellowjackets mounted a 9-0 run to start the half to sustain a commanding 33-25 lead. The Cougars fought to come back and managed to hold UW-Superior to no higher than an 11-point lead throughout the contest. In fact, trailing 55-48 late in the half, the Cougars managed to bring the lead to within five (55-50)but UW-Superior sustained their lead until the end of the game, bringing the final score to 59-52.
Elli Stevenson was the leading scorer for the Cougars with 13 points, followed by Raths with 12,

The Cougars (4-5, 1-1 UMAC) head to Duluth on Sunday, Dec. 16 to face the College of St. Scholastica. Tip off is set for 3 P.M
