MANKATO, Minn. - Bethany Lutheran proved why they won the UMAC regular season championship as they handed Minnesota Morris a 112-69 defeat Wednesday night in a UMAC men's semifinal game in Mankato.
The Cougars hit their first shots from 3-point range to open the contest.
Noah Grove and
Jeremy Halverson gave UMM a 6-2 lead. Later, with UMM still leading, 7-6, Bethany hit three straight 3s to take a 15-7 lead. Soon after, they took their first double-digit lead on a 3 from Neil Eichten and they did not look back.
Bethany shot 54 percent from the floor in the first half and held the Cougars to 29 percent as they took a 53-22 lead into the halftime locker room.
Minnesota Morris improved to 44 percent shooting in the second half.
CD Douglas wrapped up his stellar Cougar career with 15 points to set a scoring standard of 1,960 career points. Grove scored 11.
Minnesota Morris finishes the 2017-18 season with a 12-15 overall record.
