MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The 2018 Minnesota Morris softball season began Friday night indoors at the Auggie Dome Games in Minneapolis. The host Auggies dealt the Cougars a doubleheader sweep by scores of 3-1 and 12-0.
In the opener,
Madison Langrehr kept the Cougars in the game by holding Augsburg to three runs, two earned. She scattered 10 hits as the Auggies scored only single runs in the first, second, and seventh innings.
UMM scored their run on the final play of the game.
Paige Dahlberg reached on a one-out bunt single. Two batters later,
Autumn Mahoney singled to center, driving in Dahlberg from second. After Dahlberg crossed the plate, Mahoney was tagged out in a rundown, ending the game.
Kallie Wycoff and Mahoney each had two hits for the Cougars.
It was all Augsburg in the nightcap as they would shutout the Cougars, 12-0, in five innings.
Minnesota Morris (0-2) returns to the Auggie Dome tomorrow for a doubleheader with Loras College at 8:30 a.m.
