MOORHEAD, Minn. - The Minnesota Morris softball team concluded the 2018 season with a non-conference doubleheader Tuesday at Concordia-Moorhead. The Cobbers won both contests by scores of 8-7 and 8-0.
Game 1: CC 8, UMM 7
The Cougars scored four runs in the second and two in the third to take an early 6-1 lead. UMM started the second with three straight hits, which started with a double from
Kallie Wycoff.
Lydia Mann would drive her in with a single to right. In the third,
Clare Hamer delivered an RBI double that gave UMM a five-run lead. Concordia countered through with six in their half of the third to take a 7-6 edge. The Cougars would tie the game in the fourth.
Emily Nordquist singled and moved to third.
Lacey Sullivan doubled to plate Nordquist to square it at 7. It remained that way until the sixth when Concordia took an 8-7 lead. They kept UMM scoreless in the seventh to preserve the win.
Autumn Mahoney went 3-for-4. Wycoff and Mann each had two hits.
Game 2: CC 8, UMM 0
Concordia scored five in the first and two in the second to help put an early end to the game.
Minnesota Morris finishes their season with an 11-29 overall record and 5-11 mark in UMAC play.
