MORRIS, Minn. – The UMN Morris women's basketball team (6-4, 3-0 UMAC) tallied a 77-49 victory over North Central (4-5, 2-2 UMAC) Saturday afternoon inside the Cougar Sports Center. Abby Van Kempen paced the Cougars with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was all Cougars from the start as they jumped out to an 11-3 lead over the Rams.
- After the first quarter, UMN Morris led North Central, 17-11.
- The Rams brought the score within one point at 25-24, but they were never able to take a lead on the day.
- With the first two quarters of play in the books, UMN Morris led North Central, 34-28. During the first half, Maddie Fenske recorded four blocks.
- The third quarter was more of the same as the Cougars kept the Rams out of reach and then led 49-39 going into the fourth quarter.
- The fourth quarter saw the Cougars outscore the Rams 28-10 en route to the 77-49 victory.
NOTABLES
- Mia Wassink finished the game with 18 points and nine rebounds.
- Freshman Jay Kwateh scored a career-best 10 points.
- Fenske finished with five blocks on the day.
- The Cougars tallied a season-high 18 steals.
