NEW ULM, Minn. – The UMN Morris men's basketball team (5-11, 2-6 UMAC) withstood a 3-pointer late in the game but ended up securing a 68-65 victory over Martin Luther (4-12, 1-7 UMAC) Wednesday night. Four Cougars scored at least 10 points in the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wednesday's game proved to be a close contest all evening as neither team held a lead larger than eight points.
- With 1:18 to play in the opening half, Kenneth Riley hit a 3-pointer to put the Cougars up by six at 28-22 – their largest lead of the first half.
- After 20 minutes of play, UMN Morris led Martin Luther, 28-25.
- The second half proved to be more of the same as the two teams kept things close.
- With 15:27 to play in regulation, Martin Luther tallied its largest lead of the game at 39-33.
- The Cougars chipped away at the deficit and took a 45-44 lead with 12:29 to play.
- Trailing 55-47 with 10:05 to go, the Knights slowly made it a two-point contest with 48 seconds remaining.
- With nine seconds left in regulation, James Pendleton made one of two free throws to make it 68-65.
- Following the free throws, Martin Luther brought the ball up court and Micah Kieselhorst's 3-pointer was no good securing the 68-65 win for UMN Morris.

- Zack Bubany scored a career-best 10 points and dished out four assists.
