Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Cougars Can’t Keep Up with Bemidji State

The Beavers were lights-out in the second half, shooting 70 percent from the floor.

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris men's basketball team kept things close in the opening minutes of the game with Bemidji State University, but the Beavers were unstoppable in the second half and pulled away for a 91-57 win. The loss sends the Cougars to 3-3 overall on the season.

Minnesota Morris led twice in the contest, both times coming in the opening two minutes. A Pal Dak three-pointer staked the Cougars to a 5-2 lead. After Bemidji State tied it up, Dillon Haider scored in transition to make it 7-5. The Beavers followed with a 6-0 run to jump on top by four points. Though Ian Carlin scored in the paint to slice it to two, Bemidji State then followed with a 10-2 burst to go up by double-digits, 21-11. The Cougars went to the break trailing, 45-31.

The second half was a clinic by the Beavers, who shot 21-of-30 from the floor with seven of those misses coming from beyond the arc. The first six points of the half belonged to BSU to push the lead to 20 and the lead only shrank below that mark twice the rest of the way.

Noah Kannegiesser led the way for the Cougars with 14 points. Carlin and Jaret Johnson each had eight points.

Minnesota Morris travels to take on Mayville State University on Nov. 23 with a tip time set for 7:30 p.m.
