ELLENDALE, N.D. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's basketball team forced 30 turnovers and gave up only four field goals after halftime to stroll past Trinity Bible College on Monday night, 82-37. The win sends the Cougars into UMAC play at 2-8 following a tough stretch of games, many of which came against non-Division III opposition.

Trinity Bible put up a little bit of a fight in the first quarter but was unable to carry that energy throughout the rest of the game. After Minnesota Morris took a 6-2 lead, the Lions rallied back with a 10-2 run to take its largest lead of the night at 12-8 halfway through the quarter. Order was restored with an 11-0 burst from the Cougars started with a three-pointer from Justine Day. UMN Morris would go into the second quarter holding a 19-14 advantage.

A Trinity Bible jumper from Abby Molan a couple minutes into the second quarter brought the Lions within four, 24-20. That would turn out to be as good as it got for TBC on the night, as Minnesota Morris responded to the challenge with a game-turning 19-0 run. By the half, the Cougars had upped their edge to 49-24.

The Lions were out of gas in the second half, scoring just 13 points. A three-pointer from Trinity Bible cut the lead to 51-27 early in the third quarter, but Minnesota Morris raced out to a 40-point lead by the end of the period. Haley Wollschlager hit a three-pointer with just under a minute left in the quarter and then connected on a jumper just before the buzzer to make it 72-32. Neither team did much offensively in the final 10 minutes, with Minnesota Morris limiting Trinity Bible to only five points. Tariq Brownotter had the last bucket of the night for the Cougars, extending the team's lead out to the largest of the night, 82-35, before one last bucket from the Lions as time ticked down.

Both Lexus Eagle Chasing and Wollschlager approached double-doubles on the night, with Eagle Chasing finishing up with 19 points and eight rebounds. Wollschlager added 16 points and nine rebounds. Day came off the bench with 15 points and six boards.

Minnesota Morris returns home to Jim Gremmels Court this weekend for back-to-back UMAC matchups to open up the conference season. First up is a Friday night matchup with North Central University beginning at 5:30 p.m.
