MANKATO, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's track & field team began the 2022-23 indoor season on Saturday at the Chuck Petersen Open, hosted by Minnesota State University-Mankato. The Cougars finished the day in seventh place.
While fielding far from a full squad at the meet, Minnesota Morris scored in one event – the 4 x 400 Meter Relay. The team of
Triniti Neuhart,
Maggie Landwer,
Elizabeth Frias, and
Paige Diekmann placed fourth in a time of 4:39.81 to earn five points in the race.
Among individual runners,
Roxann Emerson had the top Minnesota Morris time in the 60 Meters (9.27 seconds), Frias ran a 27.93 in the 200 Meters, and Neuhart led the Cougars in the 400 Meters (1:07.74).
Sheena James also ran the 60 Meters and finished in 9.38 seconds.
Three throwers made the trip on Saturday for Minnesota Morris and
Anna Briggs had the best finish in both the shot put and the weight throw. Briggs recorded a 34-2.75 (10.43m) to take 10th in the shot put and a 36-10.5 (11.24m) in the weight to finish 13th overall.
Jennifer Steinbring and
Lauren Parsons also competed in those two events for the Cougars.
Minnesota Morris will return to action in 2023 with the Cobber Open, hosted by Concordia College-Moorhead on Jan. 21.
