MOORHEAD, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's track & field team began the 2023 portion of its season on Saturday at the unscored Cobber Open, hosted by Concordia College-Moorhead.
In track events, the 4 x 400 Relay team of
Elizabeth Frias,
Paige Diekmann,
Maggie Landwer, and
Triniti Neuhart turned in a second-place finish with a time of 4:42.23.
Grace Hambike led the way in the 60 Meter Dash with a fourth-place finish after clocking in at 8.52 seconds. Frias was also fourth in the 200 Meter Dash in 29.02 seconds.
The Cougars had a pair of runners in the top five of the 400 Meter Dash. Neuhart was third in 1:06.07 and
Briahna Hensel placed fifth in 1:10.96.
McKenna Langerud added a fifth-place showing in the 3,000 Meters with a time of 12:16.01.
Kim Peters had solid showings in a pair of field events. The sophomore was fourth in the long jump with a distance of 15-3.25 (4.65m) that ranks 10th all-time in program history. Peters also took third in the triple jump at 30-7.75 (9.34m). In the other jumps event of the day,
Ellie Beckius was fifth in the high jump by clearing the bar at a height of 4-5 (1.35m).
Among the throwers,
Anna Briggs had the top performance of the day by registering a 41-7.25 (12.68m) in the weight throw.
Minnesota Morris will head to the Saint John's Alumni Meet next Saturday in Collegeville beginning at 11 a.m.
