Men’s Swimming & Diving Finishes Fourth at Augustana Invite

The Cougars finished the weekend off with 275 points over the course of three days.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The University of Minnesota Morris men's swimming & diving team finished the Augustana Invite in fourth place with 275 points, ahead of Iowa Lakes Community College and behind a pair of NCAA Division I programs and a Division II school.

In Saturday's prelims, the fastest times belonged to John Gulon in the 100 IM (59.44), Louis Freeman in the 100 Freestyle (54.11), and Jakob Linscheid in the 200 Breaststroke (2:49.93).

A total of five Cougar swimmers went to the 'A' final of the 100 IM on Saturday night, with Gulon leading the way in sixth place with a time of 58.97. John Slatinski followed in 1:03.59, Freeman clocked a 1:04.70, Josh Meixell posted a 1:06.76, and Linscheid finished in 1:07.66.

Freeman and Meixell also competed in the 'C' final of the 100 Freestyle, with Freeman taking 28th in 53.27 and Meixell finishing 29th in 57.46. In the 'B' final of the 200 Breaststroke, Linscheid was 12th in 2:45.23.

The meet closed with the 400 Freestyle Relay. In that race, the team of Freeman, Slatinski, Meixell, and Gulon were sixth in a time of 3:33.47.

Minnesota Morris returns to the pool on Jan. 12 back in Sioux Falls in a meet against Augustana and Midland University.
