Pal Dak Wins Weekly UMAC, D3Hoops.com Honors Following Career Week

The senior Cougar guard set a new career high for points twice in the past seven days, scoring 31 against Augsburg before going off for 40 on Saturday at Wartburg.

MORRIS, Minn. – University of Minnesota Morris senior Pal Dak was named the UMAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday on the heels of three amazing offensive outputs by the guard from Lincoln, Neb.

Dak entered the week with a career high of 21 points from the season opener of his sophomore season against Concordia College-Moorhead. In Tuesday night's 86-64 win over Augsburg University, Dak easily eclipsed that mark as he went for 31 points on 11-of-17 shooting from the field and 4-of-5 shooting from three-point range.

Down in Iowa for two games this weekend, Dak scored 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting in Friday night's 71-56 neutral-site loss to Cornell College. The following day, playing a road game at Wartburg College, Dak was unstoppable as he finished with another new career high of 40 points against the Knights, shooting 17-of-27 from the floor, 3-of-6 from beyond the arc, and making all three of his free throws. The 40 points were the third-most in a single game by a Cougar player in program history, and the 17 made field goals were second all-time at Minnesota Morris.

On Tuesday morning, Dak was also named to the D3Hoops.com Team of the Week. This recognition was given to only five men's basketball players across the country for their play in the past week and was just the second time in program history that a Cougar men's basketball player has earned a spot on the list. The other honoree for Minnesota Morris was Brendan McNally back in the 2006-07 season following a 35-point output in a win over North Central University.

Dak and the Cougars return to action with a road game on Tuesday night at Mayville State University. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. following the conclusion of the women's contest between the two schools.
