MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris men's swimming & diving team notched its first-ever win in program history on Friday night at Cougar Pool. UMN Morris came away with a 125-59 victory over Iowa Lakes Community College in a dual meet, moving to 1-2 overall on the season.
Minnesota Morris had event victories in 11 of the night's 13 events, starting with the 400 Medley Relay in which the team of
John Gulon,
Jakob Linscheid,
Max Lundgren, and
Josh Meixell combined for a time of 4:07.11. The night would also end with a relay victory in the 400 Freestyle Relay with
Louis Freeman, Meixell,
John Slatinski, and Lundgren finishing in 3:40.36.
Two more victories came in diving where
Gregory Simons posted scores of 184.45 on the 1-Meter boards and 152.25 on the 3-Meter boards.
In individual swims, the Cougars recorded victories from Gulon in the 200 Freestyle (1:51.17) and 50 Backstroke (25.57), Freeman in the 50 Freestyle (23.33) and 100 Freestyle (52.77), Lundgren in the 50 Butterfly (26.58), Slatinski in the 500 Freestyle (5:27.83), and Linscheid in the 50 Breaststroke (31.77).
Minnesota Morris is back at it on Saturday morning with another dual meet against Iowa Lakes CC, this time in Marshall, Minn. at Southwest Minnesota State University. Races begin at 11 a.m.
