MARSHALL, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris men's swimming & diving team won its second successive meet on Saturday with a 124-42 victory over Iowa Lakes Community College. The Cougars improve to 2-2 on the season in dual meets.
Just like in Friday's meeting with Iowa Lakes CC, Minnesota Morris won 11 of the day's 13 events, starting with the opening relay which on Saturday was the 200 Medley. The team of
John Gulon,
Jakob Linscheid,
Max Lundgren, and
Louis Freeman totaled a 1:46.37 to win by more than five seconds against the Lakers.
Moving into individual events,
John Slatinski swam unopposed in the 1000 Freestyle and turned in an 11:33.56.
Josh Meixell did likewise in the 200 Freestyle and posted a 2:08.82. Freeman then won a five-person field in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 23.45 seconds.
Over in the diving well,
Gregory Simons compiled a score of 177.25 on the 1-Meter boards.
Moving back to the pool, Lundgren claimed the 100 Butterfly in a time of 1:00.88, followed by a victory for Slatinski in the 100 Freestyle with a 54.72. Gulon joined Slatinski with a second event victory in the 100 Backstroke, clocking in at 55.92. Meixell then added a 6:04.81 to notch a win in the 500 Freestyle. Simons wrapped up the diving portion of the day with a 151.45 on the 3-Meter boards.
The final event of the day saw the team of Freeman, Meixell, Slatinski, and Gulon post a 1:35.41 in the 200 Freestyle Relay.
Minnesota Morris will close out the first half of its season from Nov. 16-18 at the Augustana Invite in Sioux Falls, S.D. Each day will feature preliminary swims at 9:30 a.m. and finals in the evening beginning at 6 p.m.
