ST. PAUL, Minn. – University of Minnesota Morris senior
Malory Anderson was named the UMAC Player of the Week on Tuesday as she led the Cougars to a 77-51 victory over Waldorf University last week.
Anderson's night was unique in that she affected the flow of the game on both ends of the court while barely shooting the ball during live action. Despite taking just three field goal attempts and making one, Anderson finished with 10 points as she was often sent to the line and ended up making eight on the night from the charity stripe. Anderson was much more of a distributor on the offensive end and logged a game-high seven assists.
With the stifling defense of the Cougars forcing Waldorf into 22 turnovers and 25 percent shooting for the night, Anderson was a stopper for Minnesota Morris and accounted for five of the 14 Cougar steals on the night. She also ripped down 17 rebounds, with 15 coming on the defensive end.Â
Minnesota Morris will resume non-conference play on Jan. 3 with a return trip to Waldorf, taking on the Warriors at 5:30 p.m. in Forest City, Iowa.
