ST. PAUL, Minn. – University of Minnesota Morris guard
Maddy Grove took home UMAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors on Monday, giving the first-year Morris product her first weekly honor from the conference.
The Cougars lined up against a pair of NAIA opponents last weekend at James Gremmels Court. On Tuesday night, Grove poured in a career-high 32 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the floor, including 3-for-3 from beyond the arc. That point total comprised nearly half of the Minnesota Morris output on the night in a 65-53 win over Valley City State University. On Thursday, the Cougar offense struggled as a whole, but Grove still managed eight points in a 69-51 loss to Mayville State University.
Minnesota Morris will test itself against UMAC competition this weekend with a road swing into Wisconsin. First up is a Friday night matchup against Northland College beginning at 5:30 p.m. in Ashland, Wis.
