ST. PAUL, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's track & field team notched a fourth-place finish out of seven teams in its final meet prior to the UMAC Indoor Championships. The Cougars totaled 68 points on the day and outpaced a pair of UMAC foes in Crown College and North Central University.
The one new addition to the Cougar record book came from
Grace Hambike. After qualifying for the final of the 60 Meter Hurdles with a time of 11.23 seconds, Hambike turned in a 10.92 in the final to finish sixth with a time that is the 10th-fastest in program history.
On the track for Minnesota Morris, the Cougars also received points courtesy of Hambike and
Elizabeth Frias in both the 200 and 400 Meter Dashes. Frias ran a 28.50 in the 200 and 1:05.63 in the 400, while Hambike posted a 28.55 in the 200 and a 1:10.32 in the 400.
Ilsa Hoaglund ran a mile in 5:54.45 and took fourth overall in that event, while
Zoe Hoaglund also scored with a time of 6:03.97.
In field events for the Cougars,
Ellie Beckius was the runner-up in the high jump by clearing 4-7 (1.40m).
Katherine Kraemer was fifth with a height of 4-1.25 (1.25 m).
Maggie Landwer was fourth in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 8-3.25 (2.52m). Landwer added another fourth-place finish in the long jump with a 13-9.75 (4.21m), while teammate
Kim Peters was third with a 14-3.75 (4.36m). In the triple jump,
Kendra DeRosa posted a 24-7 (7.49m) to take fourth. In throwing events,
Anna Briggs was fourth in the shot put with an effort of 33-10 (10.31m), while adding a seventh-place finish in the weight throw with a distance of 40-11.50 (12.48m).
Siri Overturf also scored in weight with a distance of 34-3 (10.44m).
The UMAC Indoor Championships will be hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Superior on Feb. 24-25. Action on Friday will begin at 2:30 p.m., while events on Saturday will get underway at 11 a.m.
