PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Minnesota Morris men's track & field team sent
Cody Nye and
Anthony Staryszak to the UW-Platteville Last Chance Meet on Friday looking for an opportunity to qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships. Though the pair came up short on that goal, they did manage to set new PRs in an event.
Both Nye and Staryszak competed in the shot put on Friday. In that event, Nye improved on his second-best mark in program history with a distance of 50-2.5 (15.30m) to place third. Staryszak was sixth with a throw of 45-5.75 (13.86m).
Staryszak added an eighth-place showing in the weight throw with a distance of 52-1 (15.87m), another mark that ranks second all-time in Cougar history.
Nye and Staryszak will have one last opportunity to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships with the Wartburg College Last Chance Meet tomorrow in Waverly, Iowa.
