NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's track & field team competed a scaled-down version of the Carleton Relays on Saturday. The Cougars recorded a number of top-three finishes on the day in less-than-ideal conditions.
In sprint events, Minnesota Morris had a sixth-place finish from
Elizabeth Frias in the 100 Meter Dash (13.83) and a fourth-place time from
Triniti Neuhart in the 200 Meter Dash (28.26). That time from Neuhart was less than a tenth of a second behind second place though the runners in front of her had more wind working in their favor.
McKenna Langerud was 11th in the 800 Meters with a 2:38.33, while
Amelia Lund was the lone competitor in the 3,000 Meter Steeplechase, running a 16:28.27.
Grace Hambike took third in the 100 Meter Hurdles at 18.26 seconds. The 4 x 100 Meter Relay also was third with a time of 52.64 seconds.
In the jumps,
Kim Peters took first place in the triple jump with a best effort of 30-4.25 (9.25m).
Ellie Beckius finished as the runner-up in the high jump, clearing 4-7 (1.40m) and
Maggie Landwer was tied for third in the pole vault, clearing 8-5.50 (2.58m). The top long jump of the day came from
Kendra DeRosa with an 11-1.25 (3.38m), good for sixth place.
Minnesota Morris had a trio of third-place finishes in throwing events.
Anna Briggs tied for third in the shot put with a distance of 34-6.25 (10.52m), while
Jennifer Steinbring was third in the discus at 107-7 (32.79m). In the javelin,
Kassidy Siedow took the bronze with a throw of 96-8 (29.46m). The other throwing event, the hammer, saw
Siri Overturf claim fifth place at 118-9 (36.20m).
The outdoor season continues for the Cougars on April 26 with a trip to Minneapolis for the Running on Hope Open, hosted by the University of Minnesota beginning at 11 a.m.
