MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's track & field team won a pair of events on Saturday and maintained its position in fourth place, finishing with 114 points at the UMAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Minnesota Morris dominated the sprint events on Saturday. In the final of the 100 Meter Dash,
Grace Hambike edged out the competition to win with a time of 13.35, .02 seconds ahead of second place.
Nibras Luqman took fifth in the race with a time of 13.85. The Cougars also had the winning time in the 4 x 100 Meter Relay as
Elizabeth Frias,
Kim Peters,
Paige Diekmann, and Luqman combined for a time of 52.29.
Elsewhere on the track,
McKenna Langerud took third in the 1,500 Meters with a time of 5:20.03. In the 5,000 Meters,
Zoe Hoaglund was fourth in 20:12.41, while
Ilsa Hoaglund finished sixth in 20:21.26. In the final of the 100 Meter Hurdles, Hambike added a seventh-place finish of 20.05. One other relay race saw the team of
Maggie Landwer, Diekmann, Luqman, and
Triniti Neuhart take fourth in the 4 x 400 Meter Relay with a time of 4:33.70.
The Cougars had a pair of high finishes in the jumps on Saturday. Peters set a PR in the triple jump and ended as the runner-up with a distance of 33-10.75 (10.33m), good for ninth all-time in school history.
Ellie Beckius tied for third in the high jump by clearing a height of 4-6.25 (1.38m).
The lone thrower to score for the Cougars on the day was
Jennifer Steinbring in the discus with a toss of 96-10 (29.52m), good for sixth place.
Martin Luther College took the team title with 188 points, while the University of Wisconsin-Superior was second with 179 points. Bethany Lutheran College was the other team to break the century mark in points, ending with 141. Behind the Cougars in fifth place was the University of Northwestern with 46 points, North Central University in sixth with 44 points, and Crown College in seventh with 43 points.
