MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris men's basketball team has announced its 2023-24 schedule, featuring 13 games at home on James Gremmels Court.
The new season begins on Nov. 8 with a trip to Moorhead to face Concordia College (Minn.). Later in the week, Minnesota Morris will head to Ellendale, N.D. for a matchup with Trinity Bible College on Nov. 10.
The home opener for the Cougars comes on Nov. 14 against Augsburg University at 7 p.m. Minnesota Morris will then travel to Wartburg College for a pair of games on Nov. 17 and 18. The Buzz Levick Tournament will have its matchups pre-determined as both UMN Morris and the University of Northwestern are playing in the event. To avoid the potential of facing a UMAC opponent during non-conference play, the Cougars will meet Cornell College on Nov. 17 and follow up the next day with Wartburg.
The month of November closes out with two games against Mayville State University. Minnesota Morris will travel there on Nov. 21 and then come home to play the Comets on Nov. 28. Oak Hills Christian College pays a visit to James Gremmels Court on Nov. 30.
UMAC play begins with the Wisconsin road trip on Dec. 8 and 9. First up is Northland College in Ashland on Dec. 8. The following day will see the Cougars take on the University of Wisconsin-Superior. The calendar year finishes up with a non-conference matchup at home against Waldorf University on Dec. 11.
2024 begins with an exhibition contest on Jan. 2 as Minnesota Morris will take on NCAA Division II opponent St. Cloud State University in a game that won't count in our official team standings. The following day, the Cougars are back home to face Valley City State University as normal non-conference play resumes.
Conference play picks up on Jan. 6 with a trip to Crown College. Minnesota Morris returns home after that and spends the rest of January in the comforts of its own home. Bethany Lutheran College and Martin Luther College come to town on Jan. 12 and 13. North Central University and the Northwestern follow on Jan. 19 and 20. The final non-conference game is on Jan. 23 with Trinity Bible and a Jan. 27 game with Crown closes out the home stand.
Three weekend sets wrap up UMAC play. Minnesota Morris will be back on the road to New Ulm and Mankato on Feb. 2 and 3 to take on Martin Luther and Bethany Lutheran. UW-Superior pays a visit to Morris on Feb. 9 and the final home game of the regular season is scheduled for Feb. 10 with Northland. The following weekend will send the Cougars to the Twin Cities to face Northwestern on Feb. 16 and North Central on Feb. 17.
The top four teams in the UMAC standings will advance to the UMAC Tournament. Semifinals are slated for Feb. 21 and the UMAC championship game will be held on Feb. 24.
