SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The University of Minnesota Morris men's swimming & diving team suffered a 156-40 loss to Morningside University in the team's final dual meet of the season on Saturday afternoon.
The one victory for Minnesota Morris in 11 events came with a new school record in the 100 Backstroke.
John Gulon claimed a comfortable victory in 54.69 seconds, breaking his previous record in the event from earlier this year.
In two relay races, Minnesota Morris had a third-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay to start the day and a runner-up finish in the 400 Freestyle Relay to close things out. In the first race, the team of
John Slatinski,
Jakob Linscheid,
Max Lundgren, and
Josh Meixell turned in a 1:51.96. In the final race it was Gulon, Meixell, Linscheid, and
Louis Freeman combining for a 3:41.02.
Top finishers for the Cougars in Saturday's other events were Lundgren in the 1000 Freestyle (12:23.78) and 100 Butterfly (1:05.97), Gulon in the 200 Freestyle (1:51.29), Freeman in the 50 Freestyle (24.34) and 100 Freestyle (54.06), Slatinski in the 200 IM (2:21.54) and 500 Freestyle (5:27.06), an Linscheid in the 100 Breaststroke (1:11.94).
Prior to the Liberal Arts Championships in February, Minnesota Morris has one final regular season event on January 27 when the Cougars travel to the Twin Cities for the Hamline Invite in St. Paul. That day's action begins at 12 p.m.
